The Gluten Free Digest, Issue #3
A roundup of what's going on in the gluten free world, as well as my own.
How are we doing, gang? After the busiest two months in recent years (my body is still in fight or flight) here’s my first gluten free roundup in a few weeks.
In this issue:
Travel talk, upcoming events, and the latest and greatest London supper club
Side projects, and a creator spotlight
A timely vibe check
Speaking of that vibe check..
The state of the vibe is not good. I saw a post recently pointing out that, as of July 1st, we’re officially closer to the year 2050 than we are to the year 2000. A little piece of me passed away while processing that. Time to go check into the retirement home.
What’s going on in the gluten free world?
In case you’ve been under a rock, or off social media (love that for you), Cheez-It announced they’re releasing a gluten free version that’s coming out on “xx/xx"/2026 (my new favorite day). Whoever gets that as a tattoo first wins a prize!
Two upcoming gluten free expos to look forward to: The Free From Festival is back on the 13-14 September in Birmingham (UK) and I’m speaking on the 13th. The Wicked Gluten Free Expo is back on September 20th in Fitchburg, MA, USA.
Am I overthinking this?
Is it gluten free or gluten-free? If it’s the latter, why don’t we write “gluten-sensitive”? Which is grammatically correct? Have I been using the wrong one? Please advise.
Creator you should know
I want to shout out Ben Hampton of A Gluten Free Family. Ben and I first crossed paths in the gluten free universe thanks to Instagram (the true professional networking platform of our generation).
He’s built such a thoughtful corner of the internet, and I genuinely love seeing how he approaches gluten free living as a parent, planning gluten free events, and how he’s weaving in his ADHD story following his recent diagnosis.
Ben’s podcast, also called A Gluten Free Family, is absolutely worth a listen. He manages to cover serious topics (with big name guests) without ever making it feel like a lecture. It’s practical, honest, and low-key comforting. He interviewed me awhile back, and you can find my epsiode here.
Go give him a follow if you haven’t already!
Side project spotlight
In June, I ran my first ever gluten free food tour in London for a few guests on the Celiac Cruise Northern Europe sailing. We went on a tour of Westminster Abbey, to Charlie & The Chocolate Factory afternoon tea, to a London Eye pod ride, finishing up with dinner at Cotto.
I also brought along a welcome pastry from Manna Dew (lesson learned that a pain au chocolat does not make for a great welcome amenity on a sunny day).

I’m looking to turn this into more gluten free travel experiences across Europe, so stay tuned.
Where I’m eating
I recently went to a supper club hosted by La Maison Des Moments featuring more Good Fing Pizza than I thought possible. If you don’t know Good Fing Pizza, it’s the brainchild of Dijon who makes some of the best gluten free pizza on the planet, all by hand.

The highlights of the evening? The return of his Detroit-style pizza, Pasteis de Nata pizza (!!!), and focaccia. Genuinely this was one of the best supper clubs I’ve ever been to - anxiously awaiting the next one over here. Full review here.
Where I’m traveling to
Next week I’m off on a “work” trip to Crete with No Wine Left Behind. They’re doing a scouting trip for a potential gluten free wine retreat next year (take my money), and I’ll be along for the ride to shoot content.
We’re going to be traveling to vineyards, gluten free friendly restaurants (their retreats will be curated to be celiac safe), and doing activities like sunset cruises. For science, of course.
I’ve never met a bag I didn’t overpack, and I’m nervous about the strong odds I face of bringing back more wine into the UK than customs officials allow.
